AmCham CARES 2018 Weekly Recipient Highlight: Environment


For 100 years, Boeing has been innovating to meet the needs of an ever-changing, fast-paced, worldwide environment. Boeing Global Engagement comprises of five segments, with Environment being one of the main focuses. Globally, Boeing has invested $163 million to help build better communities, contributed $18M to non-profit organization through gift matching, awarded US$ 8.5 million worth of grants to universities, and engaged with almost 12,000 community partners.




Coca Cola

The Coca-Cola Company is committed to creating more long-term sustainable value for everyone connected to the business and the communities they proudly serve across more than 200 countries and territories. In Singapore, Coca-Cola’s efforts focus on community recycling and well-being. Supported by a US $350,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation, Coca-Cola partners with the Singapore Environment Council to inspire Singaporeans to make recycling a way of life and support Singapore’s vision of becoming a zero-waste nation by 2030.





ExxonMobil believes in making a positive impact in every country they operate, and also focus on the area of Environment as one of their top focus points. They work with the South West Community Development Council to help support the needs of the immediate community around where their offices and manufacturing facilities are located. In the past year, around 1,300 employees with family and friends contributed their time to volunteering, which was more than six times the number of participants seen in 2009.




KeySight Technologies

Keysight Technologies has a vision to build a better planet by moving the world’s technology forward by while employing a global business framework of ethical and environmentally sustainable operations. Besides prioritizing natural resource conservation, emission reduction, waste minimization, and pollution prevention, Keysight is also committed to making positive contributions in the communities where they have a presence, supporting initiatives like Environment Day and Earth Day.




Latham & Watkins

Latham & Watkins has a long-standing commitment to providing pro bono legal services, financial support, and volunteer time to those most in need within our communities. Recently, the Singapore office advised Mera Gao Power, a social enterprise providing energy services to rural villages in Uttar Pradesh, India, on a complex financing agreement among three social investors to raise funds to scale the enterprise’s impact.





Medtronic believes in their mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Through the Medtronic Caring Together Committee last year, Medtronic initiatives included cleaning shelters at Causes for Animals (Singapore) and volunteering at Kampung Kampus to perform landscaping and farm maintenance tasks. They continued to serve the underprivileged in Singapore by organizing treasure hunts for teenagers with special needs and preparing hearty meals for 120 elderly folks and 400 families in low-income homes.





Beyond Borders is P&G Singapore’s Regional HQ CSR program that aims to make a positive and lasting impact in our community and improve the lives of underprivileged children and families in the areas of health, hygiene, education and safe drinking water. Recently in partnership with Waterways Watch Society, more than 250 P&G employee volunteers participated in a coastal clean-up event clearing 3 kilometers of beach and collecting 1,129 kilograms of debris. In addition, the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW) has delivered more than 13 billion liters of clean drinking water to communities around the world.




Williams Sonoma

Williams Sonoma, Inc. is committed to addressing the impact of their operations by reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. They have been providing customers with high-quality, beautifully designed, responsibly-made products that last for generations and are safe for families, as well as being committed to responsibly sourced materials, like wood and cotton. Their Fair Trade and HERProject programs directly invest in the well-being of workers who make the products, and their associates also invest in volunteer activities to serve local communities around the world.





Xylem‘s corporate citizenship and social investment program has a mission to provide and protect safe water resources for communities in need while educating people about water issues. In Asia, Xylem’s employees are actively involved in building aqua towers that provide clean water to communities and schools in need, while in Singapore specifically, they focus on partnering with local schools and associations to create awareness about water issues. Committed to the cause, employees also regularly participate in water source clean-up activities.
