Verdayne Nunis oversees Microsoft’s communications strategy across all Microsoft product groups which address commercial businesses including Enterprise, SMB (small medium businesses), the industry’s largest partner ecosystem including vertical industry initiatives (financial services, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, aviation). This includes developing, managing, and executing regional campaigns to media and influencers both online and offline, and at all times, working closely with communications teams in 14 Asia Pacific countries.
Verdayne joined the regional communications team in March 2013, and initially led consumer and commercial communications efforts. Her two- year stint has seen her lead award winning integrated communications regional campaigns (PR and digital) including Windows XP End of Support, Modernizing Businesses, the introduction of Surface category of hybrid devices and researched based thought leadership campaigns on the new world of work and Asia CIO Insights. Prior to moving to the region, she was the Central Marketing and PR Group Manager for Microsoft Singapore for four years, managing marketing and communications initiatives which included community affairs and corporate reputation management addressing consumer, commercial, public sector, and NGO customer segments. In this role, she worked with key stakeholders to develop strategies as well as managed the end to end execution of all internal and external marketing and community affairs programs with her team of four. Prior to this role, Verdayne also held positions in public relations and led the company’s anti-piracy efforts when she joined Microsoft in 2007.
Verdayne has had extensive experience in growing and managing complex corporate reputation and marketing challenges through her extensive experience in both Singapore and regional marketing roles. Prior to joining Microsoft, she was a self-employed marketing consultant, where she successfully launched UNEP’s (United Nationals Environmental Program) Business for the Environment Summit and managed the publicity efforts for “Champions of the Earth” achieving global media attention. This was in partnership with its UNEP’s Singapore-based agency, Sound Initiatives (now called Global Initiatives). Prior to that, she led EMC South Asia’s marketing efforts for seven years, growing the company’s marketing efforts from being a virtually unknown brand in the region to the number one infrastructure storage player, with strong brand recognition and with very minimal above the line marketing. She was also successful in growing and managing a highly effective market organization spanning seven countries, many of whom have gone on to senior marketing roles in other IT companies. While at EMC, she won numerous awards, the most significant being recognition by the IPRS (Institute of Public Relations of Singapore) as a finalist in the ‘PR Person of the Year’ in 2003.
Verdayne was headhunted to join Apple Computer in 1998, to lead its regional public relations team which led the company’s resurgence in the consumer market, introducing the candy-colored iMacs, Mac OSX, Mac Air, and the iBook. She also spent four years in Edelman Public Relations, where she was Director of the Technology & Healthcare teams, providing strategic counsel and creative execution to clients such as EMC, HP, Microsoft, GlaxoSmithKline, and Kellogg’s.
Verdayne graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biochemistry in 1991 and is married with two children.
