The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement was signed on 19 October 2018. It is the first concluded FTA between the EU and an ASEAN country. With improved market access across many sectors, increased government procurement opportunities and the progressive elimination of tariffs on exports, the agreement will benefit many companies with business operations in Singapore and in ASEAN.
Join us for a briefing by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on the EUSFTA which will cover the following issues:
Anticipated Implementation schedule of the EUSFTA
Key benefits of the EUSFTA for companies based in Singapore, including the reduction of non-tariff barriers in 4 major sectors such as electronics, motor vehicles and vehicle parts, pharmaceutical products and medical devices and renewable energy generation; and addressing business structures for multinational companies,
Rules of Origin: how these work and why they attract manufacturing and supply chains to Singapore and strengthening Singapore as a hub for the region
How companies based in Singapore can leverage the EUSFTA and navigate tariffs with a Singapore strategy
How the EUSFTA would interact with Singapore’s network with FTAs
Why this is the pathfinder agreement for a future EU-ASEAN trade deal
Impact of Brexit on the deal.
