Description

CPTPP, RCEP, EU-Singapore FTA and the US-China Trade War

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) goes into force on 30 December 2018.

But that is just the starting point for the CPTPP.

With over 30 chapters, the CPTPP is a game changer, affecting all industries with some of its cross cutting provisions. Despite the US’ withdrawal, American companies based in Singapore stand to benefit from the agreement.

How can businesses take advantage of it, including "US businesses"? What is covered and what is not? What will countries need to do to implement their commitments? Who may join next?

And the CPTPP is but one element of the changing trade dynamic in Asia. How will the RCEP, growing bilateral agreements across the region, such as the EU-Singapore FTA, as well as the US-China trade disputes impact business?

The AmCham Singapore TPP Task Force will meet to discuss all of these issues.
