AmCham hosted its 13th Corporate Community Day (CCD) on October 17, 2015. CCD is an initiative designed to raise awareness about the importance of volunteerism. Bringing to life their belief in the importance of corporate and societal excellence, the participating organizations hope to continue to make positive and lasting impacts on the communities in which they work and live. CCD 2015 saw 77 participating companies and organizations with more than 2,000 employees volunteering in a wide array of activities ranging from tree planting to food distribution. The activities benefited more than 8,000 Singaporeans.

AmCham held its own CCD event with the generous support of Citi. In addition the AmCham staff, volunteers from member companies AviationLearn, FTG, Organisation Solutions, Ostergaard & Co, The People at Work, and Xerox joined the event at the Jurong Bird Park. This year AmCham partnered with its selected charity, the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF). The staff and representatives from the member companies spent the day with the beneficiaries watching different bird shows and enjoyed a delicious lunch sponsored by YUM!

US Embassy

The U.S. Embassy  organized its CCD event  with Special Olympics Singapore. The Embassy’s staff and volunteers teamed up with athletes from the Special Olympics Group and had a wonderful time competing in a friendly bowling competition. The top three highest scoring teams won trophies awarded by Deputy Chief of Mission Blair Hall and his wife. Besides hosting its own CCD event, the U.S. Embassy also participated in many of the member companies’ CCD activities. This year U.S. Ambassador Kirk Wagar participated in six events and DCM Blair Hall participated in five events.

Citi showed strong volunteering spirit with over 30 Citibankers who personally delivered sponsored gift packs to HCA Hospice Care as a collaborative support for Project Home Cheer. The volunteers also brought cheer and positivity to the terminally-ill patients by interacting with them.

This is the 13th year that AmCham has organized CCD. The inaugural event was held in 2003, with six companies and 450 volunteers. Event participation has increased tremendously since then, as more companies have started new or expanded existing CSR initiatives. AmCham organizes this annual event to encourage member companies and their employees not only to get involved with CCD, but to commit to volunteerism throughout the year.
