The Trans-Pacific Partnership Task Force

AmCham supports the TPP leaders’ shared vision of establishing “a comprehensive, next-generation model for addressing both new and traditional trade and investment issues, supporting the creation and retention of jobs and promoting economic development in our countries.” AmCham hopes this 21st century FTA will serve as a pathway to a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific.

The TPP was signed on February 4, 2016.

Join the AmCham TPP Task Force

AmCham’s TPP Task Force (“TPP TF”) has several dozen members. At its first meeting, chaired by Steven Okun, AmCham Governor and Director of Public Affairs for KKR Asia Pacific, the TPP TF determined it will advocate for the passage of the TPP based upon its economic and strategic importance to AmCham members overall.  The TPP TF will not advocate for single-industry or single-company issues.  Further, the TPP TF will not replicate member activities in the U.S. Rather, it will leverage the local and regional perspectives of members of AmCham Singapore to highlight evidence and anecdotes from the eyes and ears of the business community on the ground in the region. U.S.-Singapore Business Community Urges Congress To Make TPP ‘A Reality’

October 6, 2016

On behalf of its members and the American business community in Singapore, AmCham Singapore has sent a letter to members of Congress urging approval of the TPP.  Having the potential to strengthen our nation’s commercial, strategic, and geopolitical ties across one of the fastest growing parts of the world, the TPP will boost economic growth and job creation in the U.S. and in the other TPP nations. It will expand global trade on a level playing field for businesses and workers. AmCham Singapore stresses the importance of seizing this window of opportunity to pass TPP and send a message to the region and to the world that the U.S. is not going to sit on the sidelines. We’re going to be in on the action.
