With a formal history of diplomatic relations since Singapore’s independence and an even longer tradition of advantageous exchange dating from the days of the clipper ships, Singapore and the United States have charted a remarkable journey together. We enjoy a rich partnership characterized by flourishing economic relations and foresighted preparation for future challenges.

Already Singapore’s largest source of foreign direct investment, the United States has roughly doubled its investment stake in the past five years. The year 2017 marks the 13th year of the U.S. – Singapore Free Trade Agreement, our first such pact in Asia, that provided a sturdy platform for growth of our trade, as well as both our economies. Over 3,700 American companies operate in Singapore, many of which use the country as a regional hub. American companies continue to succeed in Singapore across many industries, sectors, and interests.

As we embark on our 51st year of prosperous U.S.-Singapore relations, I wish to express my gratitude to AmCham Singapore and its members for their steadfast commitment to the dynamic growth and success of Singapore and the region. We at the Embassy look forward to working with you to open the new opportunities that the future will offer.
