Please join us for an interactive luncheon with IRAS’ Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Ng Wai Choong on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
Mr. Ng’s speech will be on ‘Digitalization and the Economy: Challenges and Opportunities in Taxation’. Members will be able to hear Mr. Ng discuss on Singapore’s business-friendly tax system which reinforces the country’s commitment as a global business hub for foreign investments, and how Singapore has been playing an active role in supporting international tax initiatives such as the BEPS project, in addition to explaining specific tax measures relating to the Digital Economy.

About the speaker:
Mr. Ng Wai Choong
Commissioner & CEO
Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS)
Mr. Ng was appointed Commissioner of Inland Revenue and CEO of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore on 1 Feb 2018. Before that, he was the Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority from Apr 2015 to Jan 2018.
He joined the Singapore Administrative Service in 1991 after graduating from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1990. He also attended the Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development in 2001, and the INSEAD Advanced Management Program in 2012.
He was the Deputy Secretary (Policy) in the Ministry of Finance from 2007 to March 2015 overseeing government revenue, expenditure and investment policies.
Before that, he was the Deputy Secretary (Industry) in the Ministry of Trade and Industry from 2003 to 2007, and was concurrently the first Chief Executive of the Competition Commission of Singapore from 2005 to 2006.
He was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2006 and the Long Service Medal in 2014.
Mr. Ng currently also serves on the Board of Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd and is a Council Member of the Economic Society of Singapore.
