For more than 27 years Austal has been a leader in the design, construction and maintenance of revolutionary ships for governments, navies and ferry operators around the world – with over 255 vessel deliveries. Austal USA, is the United States 5th largest shipbuilder and is a critical component to the US shipbuilding industrial base. With the deployment of Austal USA built Expeditionary Fast Transports and Littoral Combat Ships operated by the US Navy to the region, Austal USA has established a permanent presence in Singapore. Mike will provide a brief Austal USA corporate overview and highlight Austal’s growing commitment to the region. About the Speaker Michael Little Senior Manager, Pacific Region Austal USA Service LLC Michael Little is Austal USA’s Senior Manager in the Pacific Region overseeing the company’s defense and commercial interests. Having establish their presence Singapore in 2016, Mike’s primary focus of effort has been in liaising and working with Austal’s local US Navy and Military Sealift Command customers as both the Expeditionary Fast Transports and Littoral Combat Ships begin their operational service in the Western Pacific region. Mike has over 20 years of experience in defense and commercial shipboard operations, shipbuilding and ship repair capacity development with a special focus on the Asia Pacific region. His experience prior to Austal USA included a 20 year career as a US Naval Officer that included command of USS HURRICANE (PC3) and USS PATRIOT (MCM7), General Manager of SembCorp Marine’s SES Marine Services Pte Ltd, Asia Pacific Regional Service Manager for Austal Limited and various defense related consulting roles with Kuok (Singapore) Group, the Australian Ministry of Defense and Austal Middle East. Mike holds a BA from Norwich University, an MA from the University of Rhode Island and a MA from the United States Naval War College.
