the 11 remaining members of the TPP move forward without the United States, the
US business community needs to remain engaged both in the TPP-11 process as
well as in advocating to the US government of the importance and complementary
nature of bilateral and plurilateral trade agreements.
As such, the AmCham Singapore TPP Task Force will continue its work started last year to achieve both of those ends.
On Friday, August 4, the Task Force will have its first meeting of 2017. Task Force Chair Steve Okun will review the AmCham activities to date on trade, including AmCham Singapore's participation at the APCAC Doorknock and AmCham Singapore's filing of its comments to the Executive Order Regarding Trade Agreements Violations and Abuses. Dr. Deborah Elms of the Asian Trade Centre will then review the status of the TPP-11 to date and the prospects for an agreement being reached this year.
Then, the Task Force will develop its work plan for the remainder of the year.
