About the Speaker:
Director, Southeast Asia
Derek Goldberg is Managing Director, Southeast Asia for Aetna
International, based in Singapore. In
this role, he serves as Chief Executive of Aetna Insurance (Singapore) Pte.
Ltd., Chief Executive of Aetna Insurance Company Limited Singapore Branch, and President
Commissioner of Aetna Global Benefits Indonesia. He is responsible for developing Aetna’s
business throughout the Southeast Asia region.
Derek Goldberg joined Aetna in 2006 as Director of Business
Operations. In 2008, he relocated from
Aetna’s Hartford, Connecticut headquarters to Hong Kong, where he led the
integration of the Asia Pacific operations of Goodhealth Worldwide after Aetna
acquired the company. In 2010, he
relocated to Singapore to establish Aetna’s office there as a regional hub for
development of Southeast Asia. Since
2011 he has led the expansion of Aetna’s presence in the region from two
countries to six through a combination or organic and inorganic growth.
During his career with Aetna, Derek has led a number of international
development initiatives, including the acquisition of an insurance license for
Aetna Health Insurance Company of Europe Limited (AHICE) and the implementation
of strategic partnerships in various locations throughout the world.
Previously, Derek worked for Allianz Global Assistance. During his 10-year career with Allianz he
held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility in operations, account
management, provider network development, product development, and marketing.
Prior to joining Allianz, Derek spent three years working for the government
of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. In his
role as Coordinator for International Relations, he organized cross-cultural
education and exchange programs for the local Japanese population and for
overseas visitors to Japan.
