Mission: The Energy Committee serves as a primary networking
tool for the energy sector of Singapore.
Along with regularly scheduled internal briefings and networking
events, the Committee is also active in tracking legislation, trends in well-established and renewable
energies, regulatory conditions and studies, with regards to policies
towards the industry and its relations to the American business
community.
Industry Brief:
Due to Singapore's commanding role as one of the
world’s top three oil trading and refining hubs, industry leaders in
the energy sector have effectively utilized the nation's opportune
location, reliable governance, and premier infrastructure as a
strategic link to Asia’s
continually expanding markets. Currently,
the country has a total crude oil refining capacity of more than 1.35
million barrels per day. Singapore
is also experimenting with multiple forms of alternative energy
including solar, fuel cells, biodiesel and even hydrogen/natural gas
hybrid for vehicles.
The government
of Singapore
continues to play a supporting role in the advancement of the country’s
position as a strategic partner in the global energy market.
The country’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) has
actively committed itself to promoting effective competition in the
energy market, ensuring a reliable and secure energy supply, and
developing a dynamic energy sector in Singapore.
Through its work, the EMA seeks to forge a progressive energy landscape
for sustained growth.
