-
AmCham is holding the 6th
Annual Corporate Community Day on Saturday,
November 22, 2008.
-
Corporate Community Day (CCD) is an AmCham initiative in which the Chamber’s member companies undertake volunteer events for local beneficiaries throughout Singapore on the same day.
-
Employees of participating companies do volunteering work with a local charity to help fellow Singaporeans in need.
- The purpose of CCD is to raise awareness about volunteering in the community.
- The nearly 900 volunteers on the Day are made up of Singaporeans, Americans, and volunteers of other nationalities who live and work in
Singapore. They are dedicated to helping other Singaporeans and to giving back to the community.
- It is thanks to this strong and growing community spirit in Singapore that the event is now the largest one-day, employee volunteer
event in Singapore.
- The first Corporate Community Day was held in 2003, with six major companies taking part.
This year, we hope to that over 30 organizations and 900 volunteers will be taking part in helping out more than 2,300 beneficiaries.

Corporate Community Day 2006
CCD 2006 was held on Saturday, November 11,
2006
AmCham Corporate Community Day is a day on which our member companies give back to the community through employee volunteer events with individuals in need. The event aims to encourage volunteerism in Singapore.
2006 event details
Beneficiaries include children's charities, the elderly and needy families. Most of our over 1000 volunteers are Singaporeans helping other Singaporeans. It is thanks to the strong and growing community spirit in Singapore that this event is now the largest one-day employee volunteer event in Singapore.
In 2006, 28 organizations and well over 1000 volunteers
took part on Corporate Community Day, hosting 22 volunteer events all over the island.

This is an annual event and is a wonderful opportunity to build stronger ties between American organizations and the Singaporean community and to encourage employee volunteerism.
The inaugural Corporate Community Day was held in 2003 with six leading companies and approximately 450 volunteers participating and has since gone from strength to strength.
In 2005, 19 organizations, over 700 volunteers and approximately 2000 beneficiaries participated. Participants in 2005 included: Agilent Technologies, Allied Pickfords, the American Club, Asian Tigers KC Dat, Becton Dickinson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cendant Mobility, Crown Relocations, Cummins, GE, Kraft Foods, Marriott, MCI Asia, Morgan Stanley, Motorola, the Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore Management University, the US Embassy in Singapore and UTC.

Activities undertaken by participating companies have included:
- moon cake parties and cooking classes for intellectually disabled children;
- sandcastle building for underprivileged kids;
- food deliveries with Meals on Wheels;
- family carnivals and food package distribution with Food From the Heart;
- beach and nature reserve clean-ups;
- arts and craft day with intellectually disabled kids;
- carnival and games at West Coast Park ;
- Food and Fun Fair for the aged;
- duck tour for special needs kids;
- charity carwash;
- talent quest with MINDS for the intellectually disabled.

In 2004, 2005 and 2006, the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore hosted
thank you receptions at the Ambassador's official residence for participants of AmCham Corporate Community Day.
At the 2005 and 2006 receptions, participants from American companies were awarded the U.S. Department of Commerce Stewardship Award, the first time the awards have been awarded anywhere in the world. Non-American companies received the U.S. Embassy in Singapore Corporate Citizenship Award.
